Slate Digital RC-Tube Review
Today we have a special guest in our review corner – Slate Digital RC Tube, the little brother of the Virtual Console Collection(VCC). Many will be aware of the name of both, especially after the big hype around of the VCC, and for sure many wonder if the hype is justified, so lets take a look on it.
The RC-Tube is in itself a single emulation within the VCC, which contains five emulations (API, Neve, SSL, Trident aswell as RC-Tube itselfs).
0Rankin Audio Ultimate Dubstep Review
High Rankin is likely for many fans of the dubstep genre not be unknown. In the past he has already created a sample package (High Rankin Dubstep Tearout) and a soundset (Patchworx 03 High Rankin Dubstep) for Loopmasters, which enjoyed great popularity. He recently launched his own sound label, called Rankin Audio, distributed through Loopmasters, where he has already published a couple of own sample packages. Many users prefer products which were created by artists, because they usually have a closer relation to the genre, so let’s have a look on it and check whether the expectations are met.
Native Instruments Razor Review
When the first teaser trailer for Razor appeared on the Internet, many users were hoping for the successor or similar powerful synth as the ever-popular Massive. But even though Razor is “just” a reactor internal synth, he’s an innovative heavyweight.
Sounds to Sample Deep House Synths Review
In recent times, especially bass and synth loops in sample packs are on the rise, and are now impossible to imagine, which also leads to a small revival of multisample-based sample packs. Therefore, we take a close look at today sounds to sample deep house synth sample-pack, produced by Dual Shaman.
Loopmasters Tech House Styles Review
Construction-kit based sample packs became more and more appreciated by producers, since they may offer well selected drum-, melody- and fx-kits saving the trouble of looking for matching sounds. Today we’re gonna take a look at Loopmasters Tech House Styles, obviously taking care of the Tech House genre inclding popular styles like Detroit and Progressive.
FabFilter Twin 2 Review
For sure you’ve been reading the very interesting Interview – FabFilter we had some time ago with Floris Klinkert from FabFilter – and again for sure you are familiar with their products being high-quality filter plugins… but not only that. This time we take a close look on Twin 2, their latest synthesizer plugin, which appears more than tempting to us – so we got our hands on it. Let`s see, what comes out…
Mini-Review: Sounds of Revolution Micro Series – Abstract & Weird and Clicks & Glitches
Oliver and his baby “Sounds of Revolution” (SOR) don’t need any introduction – the sample packs are used worldwide in enumerous productions. While waiting for more soundfood, maybe successors of “Club Revolution 1″ and others, we came across a new mini series: smaller packages, but just as useful and precious as always: “Abstract&Weird” and “Clicks&Glitches”. Interesting. Let’s do this!
0Review: Adam Szabo JP6K
Since the rise of dance music and the infamous Roland JP product line, there’s one magic word making producers go crazy: Supersaw. Especially people who missed the JP8000 era have always been looking for a good replacement – and there were very few promising tries, like the Superwave P8 plugin. Since the love still goes strong for a Supersaw synthesizer, especially a workflow-friendly plugin, the well-known Adam Szabo kicked off “JP6K”, probably the best Supersaw-emulating plugin so far.
0Mini-Review: CFA-Sound DSP Drums 01 – ACE
Probably one of the most interesting synthesizer plugins of the last year is u-he ACE. Following a somewhat modular concept, it’s capable of some pretty fancy things – a fact CFA-Sound exploited to its best with the “DSP-Drums 01 – ACE” sample pack.
As a modern electronic dance music producer, you might wonder what a synth can offer a huge sample collection can’t – well, let’s dig a bit deeper here.

5Mini-Review: Loopmasters Dom Kane presents Tech House Tools
Dom Kane doesn’t really need an introduction: well known for his House, Electro and Techhouse productions, he furthermore created quality sample placks for loopmasters and Deadmau5′s Xfer Nerve plugin. You might imagine we were really curious about his latest release – Techhouse Tools. Here we go…
750 MB of samples, both one-shots and loops, include patches for all common samplers and the REX2 format, which makes the collection usable for many producers and their software platform of choice.
0Mini Review: Kamui Virus Soundbank I & II
With a well established fanbase and being known for unique, hard electro sound, the guys of Kamui need no further introduction. Now, music producers might be happy to get their hands on actual Kamui style: Dominik Felsmann, one half of Kamui, designed 2 soundsets for his beloved synthesizer baby – the infamous Virus C. Still, the soundset is suitable for the complete Virus series, with slight differences in sound using models A, B and Powercore.
0Review: d16 SilverLine

It’s been quite a while since “Phoscyon” came out and a small coder team named d16 got loads of attention by music producers. While first being critical about just another TB-303 clone it became clear those guys know what they are doing – so no surprise there the plugin’s successors, being emulations of famous drum synthesizers, were a huge success as well. The next big deal to be announced was the effect series “SilverLine” – enough reason for us at pro|tone to have a close look at these. Enjoy!
